Quick Tip: Put images into your Dreamweaver Site Directory

In this tutorial from james, we will be putting images from a folder into the root directory of our website to allow Dreamweaver to easily reference and link to those files.

How to insert your images into your dreamweaver site directory

This tutorial hopes to demonstrate an efficient way for adding images or other media into your Dreamweaver Site Directory which will allow dreamweaver to easily reference those files.

This helps to avoid the problem many people face where they are inserting images into their web pages from different areas of their computers hard drives. If those images are moved from say the desktop to another folder, dreamweaver may not be able to find them. So it makes good sense to organize your files for a more efficient workflow. After all, time is money.

Well be inserting our images into our Dreamweaver site directory. It will be easier for you to do if you already have a folder called images inside your site root, If you haven’t already defined a site or site root then please see the tutorial on defining a new site in dreamweaver. My basic root directory consists of a defined site name which would be your website name like dreamweavertutorial and inside the root of this site will be a folder called images.

I have the images that i want to put into Dreamweaver inside a folder on my desktop so ill open the folder and drag the images from the folder down to the dreamweaver icon on my menu bar, and drag them into the site root of the website. its that easy to be efficient and save your save lot's of time in the long run.
